Son nouvel album a l'air juste énorme, il faudra vraiment que je me l'achète.

Sinon, pour Kery, ouais, il tourne un peu en boucle par contre, avec ce nouvel opus, mais ça reste très efficace et fort bien écrit.

Après plusieurs écoutes, je voudrais revenir sur ce nouvel de Prince (en fait, je ne sais plus si je vous en avait parlé)

Si l'on devait faire un bilan de son oeuvre, le résultat serait très certainement en dent de scie avec de grosse bavure de fabrication tout du long.

Prince, c'est un peu le mec qui te sort un bijou quand tu ne l'attends plus, un bijou souvent noyé dans une multitude d'albums minimalistes à la saveur d'un cake rapidement moulé. (enfin, personellement c'est pas le genre d'albums qui me fait tripper)

"Lotus Flow3r" ce rapprocherait d'avantage d'un "Rainbow Children" (son chef d'oeuvre selon moi) sans toutefois l'égalé.

L'album débute sur une intro Jazzy pour enchainer 2 ou 3 minutes plus tard sur "Boom" première pépite de l'album.

"Boom" commence sagement pour mieux rebondir sur un Riff de dingue, un riff qui donne une gouache instantané au morceau, et l'on rentre dans le vif du sujet avec une gratte solo
omniprésente qui ne laisse présager que du bon, un phrasé rendant hommage à cet icone que l'on nomme JIMI HENDRIX.

L'âme de Jimi plane tout au long de cette album et pour preuve, l'on enchaine sur "Crimson & clover" un morceau des 60's qui semble avoir été repris mainte fois, nottament par Joan Jett & the black heart. Jimi est directement cité dans la version de Prince (je n'ai jamais entendu les autres versions) en incluant des passages de "Wild Thing"

Puis on enchaine sur une première guimauve princière qui fait que l'album est imparfait et pourtant après quelques affinités avec cette albums, certains passages sont accrocheurs... 4Ever, petit plaisir coupable? Ma foi, oui ^^

Viens ensuite "Colonized Mind", un morceau Bluesy slow-tempo accompagné de lyrics planante et déformés (une autre spécialité princière ^^), un excellent morceaux qui rend ses lettres de noblesse au kid, il joue clairement dans la cour des grands.

"Feel Good, Feel Better, Feel Wonderful" est un morceau soul (enfin, une soul a la Prince, of course ^^) fun et décomplexé qui nous renvois au titres du même genre sur l'album "rainbow children".

"Love Like Jazz" est un petit morceau jazzy sans prétention et plutot reposant.

"77 Beverly Park" est un morceau instrumental avec une ambiance "gondole sur Venise" accompagné d'une petite basse fretless sympa, un morceau assez surprenant, révélant une facette de Prince que je ne conaissais pas.

"Wall of Berlin" vogue dans les sphère blues funk, avec une grosse ligne de basse entrainante.

"$" est un morceau très mineur délivrant toutefois une joie très communicative.

"Dreamer" est un très bon morceau blufunk qui me fait penser a une sorte de mix entre Jimi Hendrix et Keziah Jones période "African Space Craft", un morceau très "brut" vraiment classe.

"...Back to the Lotus" une outro jazzy clos ce magnifique album que je recommande.

Il faut savoir que Prince vend cet album en coffret avec une seconde galette bcp moins recommandable, un de ses petits délires minimaliste/electronique auquel je n'accroche pas ainsi qu'une 3eme album produit et composé par le nain pourpre mais interprété par une de ses nouvelle protégée (surement son petit coup du moment ^^) Bria Valente, pas de quoi cassé trois pattes à un canard.

Sachez également que les moyens de distrib de cet album sont assez fumeux (Prince n'a signé avec aucune maison de disque, la distrib est directement geré par une chaine de supermarché aux States) toutefois l'album est en principe dispo en download sur ce site:

Puisqu'on parle des vétérans des années 80 et de leur éternel retour (Depeche Mode, Prince, etc.) je signale celui de Trisomie 21 avec leur treizième album "Black Label" sorti en Avril 2009. Ils portent un nom vraiment ingrat mais c'est le seul groupe français électro-wave ayant survécu à cette époque, et leur album est très beau si on est amateur du genre.

Pour ma part je l'ai trouvé à la Fnac, mais ceux qui veulent s'en faire une idée online peuvent l'écouter intégralement ici (qu'on me censure si HADOPI n'est pas d'accord):

Entre parenthèses, bien qu'étant assez confidentiels ils ont réussi leur come back là où The Cure avait échoué en 2008 (contrairement à l'avis de Télérama qui avait salué un "évènement", mais je ne suis pas toujours d'accord avec Télérama - heureusement).

non , non, pas de clash parceque les 90's c'est toute mon adolescence et donc les fondations réelles de ce que j'écoute. ^^ (primus, rage against the machine, jamiroquai, red hot (période uplift mofo party plan, mother milk, blood sugar sex magik et one hot minute... le reste est plus que dispensable ^^), nirvana ect...)
